7.7-magnitude earthquake hits Myanmar, tremors felt in Vietnam

VOV.VN - A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at around 1:20 p.m. on March 28, sending tremors across neighboring countries, including China, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

India's National Center for Seismology reported that the epicenter was located at latitude 21.93°N and longitude 96.07°E, at a depth of 10 km near Monywa in central Myanmar.

About 10 minutes later, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 was recorded about 20 km from Kyaukse, Myanmar.

The tremors were strong enough to be felt in several countries, including India, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. In Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and other localities, many people in high-rise buildings reported noticeable shaking.

In Bangkok, Thailand, tremors were also recorded, with reports saying the quake was strong enough to cause water to spill from swimming pools.

As of now, there have been no reports of damage or casualties.
