VOV.VN - Seventeen-year-old Vietnamese singer Anh Thu, a student at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, won the gold award in the solo-with-piano category at the 13th Asia Arts Festival (AAF), held in Singapore from July 6 to 12.
She outperformed contestants from many countries to win the category. After receiving the award, Anh Thu said it recognised the hard work that she and her instructor, singer and lecturer Bich Hong, had put into their training, while giving her greater confidence to pursue a professional career in music.
Taking part in the festival also marked an important milestone in her musical development and provided an opportunity to gain experience, learn and prove herself on the international stage, Thu shared.
Bich Hong praised Anh Thu as a singer with a passion for classical vocal music, a bright, clear voice, a wide vocal range and strong vocal power. Despite being only 17, she has shown confidence on stage and the ability to execute vocal techniques with finesse in each performance, she added.
Born in 2009 in the central province of Quang Tri, Anh Thu has won several prizes at domestic competitions. The gold award at the Asia Arts Festival is the first international title of her singing career.
The annual Asia Arts Festival aims to provide a professional platform where artists, school pupils and university students with a passion for the arts can showcase their talents, engage in cultural exchanges and learn from one another.
Since 2013, the festival has attracted more than 2,600 singers and dancers from over 20 countries, including many in Asia as well as Russia, Germany, Scotland and New Zealand.
