The festival, organised by the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio (DSF) in collaboration with the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), aims to introduce outstanding documentary films to the public while fostering cultural exchanges between the EU and Vietnam.
The lineup includes seven documentaries from Europe, representing Austria, Wallonia-Brussels (Belgium), Italy, Spain, Sweden, Israel, and the United Kingdom, with some having won awards at domestic and international film festivals.
In addition, 11 Vietnamese productions, including seven from the DSF and four by independent filmmakers, will also participate in the festival.
According to Trinh Quang Tung, deputy general director of the DSF, the festival will give a chance for filmmakers to exchange ideas and techniques, helping to strengthen mutual understanding and develop friendship between Vietnamese and international filmmakers.
The selected films explore a wide range of perspectives on life, culture, and society, offering audiences a rich, emotional, and multidimensional view of the world. The event aims to strengthen international friendship and contribute to Vietnam’s ongoing cultural diplomacy efforts.
Screenings will take place at 7:00 PM daily throughout the festival. A special Independent Film Screening Day will be held on Sunday, September 14, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Admission is free, and screenings will be held at the DSF Cinema, 465 Hoang Hoa Tham, Hanoi.
