VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music will host a special concert on October 9 to mark the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations with a view to bringing chamber music to the public while fostering cultural, educational, and artistic exchange between the two nations.
The program will feature a collaboration between Germany’s Berlin Lichtenberg Chamber Choir and the Saigon Choir from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. It will blend traditional Vietnamese folk songs such as Qua Cau Gio Bay ("While crossing the bridge, the wind blew it away"), Beo Dat May Troi ("When Earth and Sky Unite"), and Trong Com ("The Cylindrical Drum") with classical works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and contemporary European composers, offering a rich and emotive musical experience.
Founded in 2011 in Berlin’s Lichtenberg district, the Berlin Lichtenberg Chamber Choir brings together around 30 passionate singers specializing in diverse a cappella repertoire, from Renaissance classics to jazz‑infused contemporary works.
Established in 2016, the Saigon Choir is Vietnam’s first adult choir to win several prestigious awards, including the Gold Award for Mixed Chamber Choir at the Vietnam International Choir Competition 2017 and a Certificate of Excellence at the 2021 World Choir Games in Flanders, Belgium.
To date, the Berlin Lichtenberg Chamber Choir has become a beloved name among both the public and the artistic community in Berlin.
