VOV.VN - The fourth Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF 2026) will bring audiences on a journey through more than a century of American filmmaking with a special programme featuring 13 cinema classics that have shaped the history of world cinema.
The festival, to be jointly organised by the Da Nang municipal People's Committee and the Vietnam Film Promotion and Development Association (VFDA), will introduce the theme of “DANAFF – Bridging Asia to the World”, presenting a diverse slate of engaging films.
As part of the festival, the Focus on US Cinema programme will present a curated selection of 13 films widely regarded as milestones in the evolution of American cinema.
The lineup spans multiple eras, beginning with silent-film masterpieces such as The General (1926) and City Lights (1931), before moving into Hollywood’s golden age with classics including Casablanca (1942), Singin’ in the Rain (1952) and 12 Angry Men (1957).
The programme also highlights influential works from the modern era, including 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), The Godfather (1972), Raging Bull (1980), Saving Private Ryan (1998), No Country for Old Men (2007), Hacksaw Ridge (2016) and Nomadland (2020).
According to organisers, the selection aims not only to introduce iconic American films to Vietnamese audiences but also to provide a historical perspective on how cinematic language has evolved over the past century.
