Delegates to ASEAN City Leaders Conference explore Hanoi's heritage sites

VOV.VN - Delegates from ASEAN localities, including Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Indonesia, attending the 2026 ASEAN City Leaders Conference took part in a cultural and heritage tour of Hanoi to get a beter understanding of special historical and cultural sites in the capital.

The programme, organised by the Hanoi Department of Tourism in coordination with relevant agencies and organisations, took place as part of the conference, held from June 7-10. Delegates from ASEAN localities, including Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Indonesia, joined the tour.

At the Thang Long Imperial Citadel heritage site, delegates visited Doan Mon Gate, watched a traditional water puppet performance and explored exhibitions on the history of Thang Long-Hanoi and royal treasures. They also toured the Kinh Thien Palace Dragon Steps relic and House and Bunker D67, a historic site associated with key decisions during Vietnam’s struggle for national liberation and national reunification.

At the special national relic Van Mieu–Quoc Tu Giam (the Temple of Literature), delegates visited Khue Van Cac Pavilion, a cultural symbol of Hanoi, the Doctors’ Stelae Garden and other key areas of the site. They also visited exhibition spaces and experienced the “Si Tu” (Scholar) exhibition.

The visit offered deeper insight into Vietnam’s tradition of learning, academic achievement and long-standing cultural values.

Through the programme, Hanoi aimed to introduce international delegates to the capital’s distinctive cultural and historical heritage while promoting its image as a safe, friendly and high-quality destination. The initiative is also designed to strengthen exchanges, cooperation and connectivity between Hanoi and localities across ASEAN.
