First Vietnamese Ao Dai festival held in Fukuoka

VOV.VN - The beauty of Ao Dai, the traditional long dress of Vietnamese women, has bene promoted at the first ever Vietnamese Ao Dai Festival which is getting underway in Fukuoka, Japan, from January 18 to 21.

On display are 160 sets of Ao Dai produced from four Vietnamese designers -  Ngoc Han, Cao Minh Tien, Che Quyet Tien, and Tran Thien Khanh.

In her opening speech, Vu Chi Mai, consul general of Vietnam in Fukuoka, emphasised that the festival aims to honour the Vietnamese costume and to popularize major tourism destinations in the Japanese cities of Fukuoka and Kyushu.

Mai revealed that the festival helps to introduce Vietnamese cultural values to international friends, as well as to highlight the cultural quintessence of both countries.

Inoue Hirotaka, vice chairman of the Japan - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance in Fukuoka, said this year marks the 10th anniversary since the Hanoi People's Council and the Fukuoka Prefectural Council signed an agreement to promote exchanges and friendship in April, 2014.

He added that a delegation from the Fukuoka administration would pay a working visit to Hanoi on January 22 in an effort to further promote friendly exchanges between the two sides.
