Hanoi partners with international organisations to develop craft villages

The event was held as part of activities taking place within the 2023 Festival for Vietnamese Craft Village Preservation and Development.

At the signing ceremony, Ta Van Tuong, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasised that the signing of the deal is aimed at stepping up co-operation between the city and its foreign partners, contributing to further developing handicraft industries in the capital, as well as preserving traditional values and cultural identity of craft villages.

Dr. Kevin Murray, vice president of the World Crafts Council International, highlighted the development of the Hanoi craft villages and the great efforts made by the capital in its conservation work.

He expressed his hope that both sides will soon concretise the contents of the agreement as a means of furthering ramping up co-operation in preserving and developing Hanoi craft villages.

Promoting cooperation in the field of preserving and developing creative craft village models is widely considered to be a proper orientation in line with Hanoi's policy and the goals of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, of which Hanoi is a member.
