Huge crowds gather to enjoy Ha Long winter carnival
VOV.VN - Thousands of tourists have flocked to Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh to celebrate New Year’s Day on January 1 and also to attend the city’s famous Winter Carnival.
The event features over 1,000 artists and dancers wearing a range of colourful costumes.
The carnival parade showcases a total of six performance sections, running with the theme of “Ha Long – the aspiration of flying dragons”.
One of the highlights of the event is an open stage featuring the World Natural Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay in the background, with more than 100 cruise ships parading back and forth.
In addition, audiences are treated to exhilarating performances of helicopters, seaplanes, and paragliders in the skies overhead.
Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of performances which unveil the typical cultural and tourism attractions of the northeastern province. In addition, guests can sample some of the areas delicious cuisine whilst discovering interesting local tourism products whilst attending the carnival.
Organised by the Tuan Chau Group, the carnival aims to offer visitors a fresh experience of Ha Long, whilst also helping to diversify tourism products in the province during the off-peak season.
Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Ha Long Bay welcomed only 1.5million visitors in 2020, a decline of approximately 66% compared to last year.
