VOV.VN - Vietnam National Railway Group (VNR) on August 17 launched the Hue – Phong Nha Heritage Train, a scenic journey celebrating some of the country's most remarkable cultural and natural treasures under the theme Journey of Wonders – World Heritage.
During the launch week from August 29 to September 5, the railway sector offers a 50% discount across all tickets, with promotional fares ranging from VND210,000 to VND380,000 for the Hue – Phong Nha (Tho Loc Station) route.
From September 6 to December 31, a 15% discount programme will be applied. Passengers booking round-trip tickets for travel after the inaugural week will receive an additional 10% discount on the return leg. Attractive incentives are also available for tour groups, travel agencies, tourism associations, and beneficiaries of social welfare policies.
According to the schedule, for the outbound leg, train HQ2 departs from Hue Station at 7:15 a.m. and arrives at Tho Loc Station at 11:55 a.m. For the return leg, train HQ1 leaves Tho Loc Station at 1:15 p.m. and reaches Hue Station at 5:25 p.m. The journey covers approximately 190 km, with a travel time of over four hours.
The route links distinctive attractions, such as the Complex of Hue Monuments, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel (Dong Ha Station), the Vinh Moc Tunnels (My Trach Station), and the gateway to the cave systems of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (Tho Loc Station). The stations are also designed to become popular photo spots and venues for showcasing and selling One Commune One Product (OCOP) products, thereby enhancing the visitors’ experience.
The train's interior and exterior are inspired by the distinctive heritage, culture, and tourism identity of Hue, Quang Trị, and Phong Nha, creating a unique visual identity unlike any other train in Vietnam.
The eight-carriage train can accommodate more than 300 passengers. It includes five carriages fitted with rotating seats for panoramic views of the scenery, a 24-seat VIP carriage, a community carriage for social activities and a recreation and service carriage.
According to the railway sector, the new route is expected to expand connections among destinations in central Vietnam, give travelers more options and contribute to the development of a sustainable tourism product that can preserve and promote the region’s heritage values over the long term.
A new railway tourism service linking the former imperial city of Hue with Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is scheduled to begin operation on September 1, under a cooperation agreement signed by Quang Tri province, Hue city and Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR).
