VOV.VN - An exhibition opened at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi on December 9, showcasing a collection of striking photographs of Vietnam captured by Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo Los Banos Montealegre.
The two-day exhibition titled “Where the Eyes Meet: A Visual Narrative of Poetic Journeys” features 87 photographs taken during the diplomat’s travels across the country. Through his lens, Vietnam’s landscapes appear like vivid paintings, telling intimate stories of the daily lives of its people.
His works depict the H’Mong ethnic community in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang, as well as iconic destinations such as Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh in the north, Hoi An and Da Nang in the central region, and Vung Tau in the south.
Among the standout photographs leaving a strong impression on visitors are “Những sắc màu Hội An” (The Colours of Hoi An), “Thác Bản Giốc” (Ban Gioc Waterfall), “Bình minh ló rạng” (Sunrise in Da Nang), “Những nghệ sĩ khèn” (Flutists in Ha Giang), and “Chạy theo mùa Hè” (Chasing Summer in Hanoi).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Montealegre shared that after a five-year tenure in Vietnam, he wished to become a storyteller, as photography allows him to fully embrace and convey the beauty of life.
The exhibition, he said, has deepened his understanding of Vietnam’s landscapes, people, and culture, and contributes to strengthening cooperation between the two countries as they celebrate the 10th anniversary of their strategic partnership and prepare for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026.
The diplomat, whose working term will end in January 2026, also expressed profound gratitude to the leaders of the Party, the State, ministries, local authorities, and the Vietnamese people for their support to him and the Philippine Embassy throughout his tenure.
On the occasion of the New Year 2025, Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam Meynardo Los Banos Montealegre spoke to Vietnam News Agency about the major achievements in Vietnam-Philippines relations in 2024 and prospects for 2025 as the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Strategic Partnership.
