Photography art tightens Vietnam-Indonesia friendship

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA), in coordination with the Federation of Photographic Societies of Indonesia (FPSI) and the Embassy of Indonesia in Vietnam, opened the art exhibition “Vietnam-Indonesia: Through the lens of friendship.” on November 26 in Hanoi.

The event is part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, helping deepen exchanges and mutual understanding between Vietnamese and Indonesian artists.

A total of 140 photographs are on display, including 70 works from each country, portraying natural landscapes, cultural traditions, and daily life. Vietnamese artists present images of the country’s scenery, work ethic, and hospitality, while Indonesian works highlight the vivid cultural and natural identity of the archipelago.

VAPA President Tran Thi Thu Dong said Vietnamese artists are proud to showcase authentic moments of their homeland, conveying aspirations for peace and sustainable development. She added that the exhibition would not be complete without the outstanding contributions from Indonesian artists.

FPSI President Agatha Anne Bunanta noted that photography has long served as a universal language that transcends borders and cultural differences. She said the exhibition acts as a “bridge” connecting the two nations and reflects their 70-year relationship built on trust and cooperation.

Jane Runkat, Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Indonesia in Hanoi, extended condolences to families affected by recent flooding in central Vietnam, reaffirming Indonesia’s solidarity with the Vietnamese people and expressing hope for a quick recovery. She also pointed to new challenges for contemporary photography, such as AI, copyright, innovation, and affordability, and emphasized the need for closer cooperation among photographic associations.

According to the organizers, the exhibition stems from a cooperation initiative launched during a meeting between the two associations in April 2025. Presenting an equal number of works from both sides shows a spirit of partnership and mutual respect, while expanding the space for artistic exchange and strengthening people-to-people ties.

The exhibition runs until December 25 at the VAPA building in Hanoi.
