VOV.VN - AEON Vietnam Co., Ltd. officially opened a general merchandise store in District 8 of Ho Chi Minh City on September 26, the eighth of its kind in Vietnam, in an attempt to get the lion’s share of the retail market in the country.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Furusawa Yasuyuki, general director of AEON Vietnam, emphasised that the company plans to accelerate its network development and open up new business locations in order to meet the rising needs of Vietnamese consumers.
Through the expansion of its operations, AEON has not only contributed to developing Vietnamese commercial infrastructure, but also promoting the consumption of local products through AEON's distribution and retail system, he said.
With regard to the expansion strategy, Yasuyuki revealed that AEON will continue to develop large-scale shopping malls to cater to the taste of the local community with priority given to customer convenience.
According to Yasuyuki, AEON Group will continue to ramp up investment in the long-term strategy in the Vietnamese market, which is the group’s second key market, creating a prosperous life for people living in locations where AEON has made its presence.
The AEON representative said that after more than a decade operating in Vietnam, AEON has poured about US$1.5 billion into local projects.
AEON Mall Vietnam Co Ltd on September 21 officially opened its seventh shopping mall in Vietnam and first in the central region - AEON Mall Hue.
Aeon Global Merchandising Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of Japanese retailer AEON Group, plans to export about 30 tonnes of fresh lychees to Japan this year, up 120% from last year’s figure, according to the company’s representative.
