VOV.VN - January alone witnessed agro-forestry-aquatic products rake in US$5.14 billion from exports, marking an annual rise of 79.2%, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Accordingly, the export value of agricultural and husbandry products rose by 93.8% and 3.5% to US$2.71 billion and US$36 million, respectively.
Meanwhile, earnings from aquatic and forestry products reached US$730 million and US$1.49 billion, rising by 60.8% and 72.5% in comparison to the same period last year.
China, the United States, and Japan remained the top three importers, with China accounting for 23%, up 106.9%; the US 20.8%, up 95.9%; and Japan 7.4%, up 47.5%.
MARD also reported that Vietnam spent US$3.72 billion importing agro-forestry-aquatic products in January, an increase of 45.1% from the corresponding time last year.
In the reviewed period, the import turnover of agricultural, husbandry, seafood and forestry products stood at US$2.2 billion, US$300 million, US$250 million, and US$253 million, up 41.1%, 46.8%, 33.9%, and 100.7%, respectively.
Vietnam’s aquatic product exports will experience only a slight recovery in the first half of this year due to market volatility and a host of challenges to the global economy, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
