Australia seen as high-potential market for Vietnamese building materials

VOV.VN - Australia stands as one of the region’s largest markets for building materials, valued at an estimated AU$60-70 billion annually and fueled by heavy investment in transport infrastructure, housing, urban development, and public works.

To assist domestic enterprises in penetrating this lucrative sector, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia recently partnered with business associations from both nations to host a workshop on connecting Vietnamese building materials with the Australian market, drawing nearly 100 enterprises, contractors, and importers.

At the event, Vietnamese firms received updates on Australia's technical standards, import regulations, quality certification requirements, and supply-chain traceability rules, while engaging in direct business-matching sessions with local partners. The initiative represents a crucial step enabling Vietnamese suppliers to secure early project involvement and meet Australia’s stringent technical, quality, and sustainability benchmarks.

To enter the market, products must comply with Australia’s National Construction Code (NCC) and joint Australian/New Zealand Standards (AS/NZS), alongside rigorous certification and origin-tracing mandates.

At the same time, Australian developers and contractors prioritize partners with technical capacity, strong reputations, and the ability to join long-term supply chains.

Amid the positive momentum of the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, connecting building material suppliers with Australian developers and general contractors during early project planning holds strategic importance.

This proactive integration helps Vietnamese manufacturers better meet market standards and expand their role in global supply networks, thereby promoting sustainable trade and investment ties, strengthening economic resilience against global fluctuations, and deepening bilateral economic cooperation in a new era of development.
