VOV.VN - The General Department of Customs of China has granted an additional 163 growing area codes and 67 packaging facility codes to Vietnamese durian, according to details given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Among the localities of Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Tien Giang, Tien Giang was granted the most planting area codes with a total of 27 codes.
At present, the nation has 246 planting area codes and 97 packaging facility codes that fully meet the requirements to export products to the Chinese market.
Durian represents a fruit of high economic value, with the fruit being forecast to become an export item worth billions of US$ this year.
Furthermore, China remains the world's largest durian consumption market and opened for Vietnamese durian from September 9, 2022. Since then, the price of domestic durian in the nation has continuously increased, ranging from between VND160,000 and VND200,000 per kilo.
At present, the durian growing area has been expanded in many localities nationwide. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has warned growers to cater to suitable ecological, climatic, and soil conditions as a means of ensuring productivity and the quality of durian.

Vietnam’s durian shipments to China are forecast to fetch over US$1 billion in all of this year, said Dang Phuc Nguyen, general secretary of the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association.
