VOV.VN - The world’s leading logistics provider DHL Supply Chain broke ground on the DHL North Logistics Campus in Hung Yen province on July 24, investing approximately VND1.9 trillion (EUR63 million) in one of its largest logistics projects in northern Vietnam.
The project is expected to strengthen Vietnam's logistics infrastructure and meet rising demand from manufacturers and exporters expanding their operations in the country.
Covering more than 82,500 square metres, the logistics campus comprises four buildings strategically located near the Hanoi–Hai Phong Expressway, providing convenient access to Noi Bai International Airport, downtown Hanoi and Hai Phong Port. The site is also surrounded by major industrial zones that host manufacturers in electronics, automotive, consumer goods and industrial production.
The campus has been designed with sustainability at its core. Planned features include rooftop solar panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, and infrastructure to support electrically powered equipment, helping reduce emissions and support customers' sustainability goals.
DHL Supply Chain reported, the first phase, scheduled for completion in the first half of 2027, will provide approximately 41,180 square metres of warehouse space, while the second phase is expected to commence in the second half of 2028.
DHL's latest investment comes as Vietnam continues to reinforce its position as one of Asia's fastest-growing manufacturing and export hubs, supported by robust foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and expanding international trade.
According to DHL's latest Global Connectedness Report, cross-border trade continues to grow steadily, with Vietnam identified as one of the region's most dynamic economies.
Steve Walker, general manager of DHL Supply Chain's Thailand–Vietnam Cluster, said Vietnam is one of the company's key growth markets in Asia, noting that the investment reflects DHL's long-term confidence in the country's economic prospects as businesses continue to expand manufacturing, diversify sourcing, and strengthen distribution networks.
Bertrand Juvigny, managing director of DHL Supply Chain Vietnam, pointed out that Vietnam currently ranks ninth globally for international trade connectivity. It is projected to be among the top four countries worldwide in terms of absolute merchandise trade growth during the 2026–2030 period.
Lam Duc Thuan, deputy head of the Management Board of Industrial Parks in Hung Yen province, said the project would enhance the province's logistics infrastructure at a time when global supply chains are undergoing significant restructuring.
He added that the new logistics campus would improve warehousing and distribution services, create jobs, attract further investment and support the development of a modern supply chain ecosystem in northern Vietnam.
Once operational, the DHL North Logistics Campus is expected to become a key logistics hub serving northern Vietnam and further strengthen the country's attractiveness as a destination for global manufacturing and supply chain investment.
The project also follows a series of recent expansions by DHL in Vietnam, including upgrades to its Hanoi Gateway facility and expanded container freight station (CFS) operations in Hai Phong, reflecting the company's growing confidence in Vietnam's long-term role within global logistics and production networks.
