VOV.VN - The export of fresh agricultural products and fruits, including durian, to China has resumed via Lang Son border gate after China introduced new regulations requiring an additional Basic Yellow 2 (BY2) certification.
From February 1 to 3, 14 trucks carrying durian were exported via the Huu Nghi International Border Gate, while 12 other similar trucks passed through the Tan Thanh Border Gate, totaling hundreds of tonnes of the fruit.
These trucks had pre-registered for customs clearance, according to the Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone of Lang Son province that borders China.
Currently, durian testing laboratories recognized by China are operating in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Ca Mau.
Since January 16, there had been no trucks carrying fresh durian exported through the border gates due to China’s new inspection regulations for durian exports. Accordingly, China has moved to tighten its inspection of BY2 residues in durian batches exported from other countries, including Vietnam, to its market.
The Management Board of the Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone stated that they have been in regular contact with Chinese authorities, requesting them to facilitate smooth customs clearance. Vietnamese authorities have also actively planned and implemented “green lanes” to regulate traffic for trucks early, avoiding prolonged congestion.
Regarding some businesses that reported difficulties in durian clearance recently, a representative from the Management Board emphasized that all export goods must meet the import country’s requirements, such as compliance with cadmium and BY2 testing standards.
The authorities of the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang and China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region jointly organised a ceremony on December 28 to announce the upgrade of the pair of Tra Linh (Vietnam)-Longbang (China) border gates into international ones.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on August 25 visited and planted a tree at the Huu Nghi (Friendship) International Border Gate as part of his working trip to the northern mountainous province of Lang Son.
