VOV.VN - The Vietnam Halal Certification Authority (HALCERT) has granted Halal certification to cereal and coffee products produced by HR Essence, marking the first Halal certification for a food manufacturing model in Vietnam in 2026.
The certification covers a diverse range of HR Essence products, including collagen instant coffee, premium bird’s nest cereal, and nutritional cereal blends made from 25 types of grains and seeds. These products are positioned toward quality, added value and scalability for Halal-compliant markets worldwide.
Halal certification is widely regarded as a key market-access requirement for Muslim consumers, particularly in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Beyond technical compliance, Halal-certified businesses are encouraged to uphold core values such as integrity, fairness, transparency and trust, while integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles into production and business operations to ensure long-term sustainability in the global Halal economy.
Huong Nguyen, chairwoman of HR Essence, said obtaining Halal certification is a demanding process requiring strict compliance at every stage, from raw materials and personnel to factory conditions and surrounding environments.
“Under Halal principles, there must be no room for doubt,” she said. “Even with ISO 22000 in place, companies must develop a separate Halal compliance framework, involving hundreds of detailed verification questions for ingredients, additives and production processes, as well as measures to prevent cross-contamination.”
Shortly after receiving the certification, HR Essence successfully shipped its first export order to Malaysia.
VOV.VN - Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Malaysia in the Halal sector has been growing steadily, though challenges remain with trade imbalances and strict Islamic certification requirements.
To help businesses diversify export markets, Ho Chi Minh City has been actively promoting trade with the Halal market, which serves an estimated 2.2 billion Muslim consumers worldwide, particularly in the Middle East.
VOV.VN - Lam Dong provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism welcomed a key Halal tourism delegation from Malaysia on November 5, with the launch of a program on networking and tourism development between the central highland province and Malaysian partners in 2025.
