VOV.VN - The first two shipments of fresh Vietnamese lychee, totaling around two tonnes, arrived in Houston, Texas, by air cargo in early June, highlighting the growing and increasingly stable presence of Vietnamese fruit in one of the world’s most demanding markets.
Thanks to rapid transportation, the fruit retained its freshness, vibrant colour and signature flavour, receiving positive responses from distributors and consumers shortly after reaching the market.
Vietnamese lychee and other fresh fruits are now available in Asian supermarket chains and local markets across Houston and several other US states.
As a wholesale importer and distributor, C&T Produce Wholesale Inc. said many customers placed orders even before the shipments arrived, reflecting strong market demand.
Diem Chinh, owner of C&T Produce Wholesale Inc., who has nearly 25 years of experience in food import and distribution in the United States, said Vietnamese agricultural products are highly valued by the Asian American consumer community for their quality, variety and distinctive flavour. This group also represents an important customer base for Vietnam’s fresh fruit exports in the US market.
In recent years, the Vietnam Trade Office in Houston and the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston have served as key advisory and connectivity hubs, helping to promote trade and investment and support stronger business cooperation between enterprises in both countries.
Notable initiatives include promotional programmes for Vietnamese products at the annual Asian Bazaar in Houston, B2B networking events organised by US economic and trade associations, and various trade and investment promotion activities coordinated by Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, local Vietnamese authorities and Vietnamese representative agencies in the United States.
In addition, importers note that the active participation of the Vietnamese business community in the United States has played an important role in helping Vietnamese agricultural products penetrate deeper into major US distribution networks, expanding opportunities for Vietnamese fruits, food products and agricultural exports in the world’s largest market.
