VOV.VN - Beyond its traditional agricultural strengths, Vietnamese enterprises are working to expand the market share of high-potential products such as rubber, pepper, and cassava in strategic export destinations.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, China remains a key market for Vietnam’s agricultural exports. So far, 14 types of Vietnamese agricultural products have gained official export access to the neighbouring nation, including durian, bird’s nest, sweet potato, dragon fruit, longan, rambutan, mango, jackfruit, watermelon, banana, black jelly, mangosteen, lychee, and passion fruit.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien stated that for 2025, the Prime Minister has set a target of 4% GDP growth in the agricultural sector, with total export turnover of agro-forestry-aquatic products expected to reach US$64-65 billion. Meeting this target presents a huge challenge, requiring the sector to step up efforts, mobilize resources, seize opportunities, and effectively implement assigned tasks and solutions.
In addition to maintaining the Chinese market, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will continue to actively and effectively implement bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements. It will also intensify trade promotion activities and push for the removal of technical barriers in major markets such as China, the US, and the European Union.
“We must leap forward in the spirit of the Politburo’s Resolution No.57, which emphasizes breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation,” said Deputy Minister Tien. “There must be strong links between processing technologies and equipment, and we need to attract investment markets that are on par with those in the region and the world. Vietnam’s raw material zones must be developed on a foundation of transparency and digital transformation, with clearly identified planting area and processing zone codes. Deep processing is key to enhancing the added value of agricultural products,” he added.
VOV.VN - The total import-export turnover of Vietnamese agricultural products in the first half of February reached US$1.4 billion, up 37% year on year, with exports grossing US$914 million, up 55%, according to Vietnam Customs.
