VOV.VN - The Vice Chairman and the Global Head of Capital Markets at Nasdaq has congratulated Vietnam on its official stock market upgrade and expressed readiness to cooperate with the State Securities Commission and Vietnamese enterprises in listing, capital mobilization, and related fields.
Bob McCooey, Vice Chairman and the Global Head of Capital Markets at Nasdaq, a leading US stock exchange, recently had a working session with Vu Thi Chan Phuong, Chairwoman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam (SSC) to discuss cooperation opportunities following Vietnam’s official stock market upgrade.
He expressed his congratulations to Vietnam on its stock market upgrade and affirmed Nasdaq’s willingness to cooperate with the State Securities Commission of Vietnam and Vietnamese enterprises in listing, capital raising, and related areas. He also highlighted Nasdaq’s interest in supporting Vietnamese companies to expand internationally and promoting Vietnam’s image in the global market.
The Nasdaq leader praised Vietnam’s dynamic entrepreneurial spirit and noted that combining domestic listing with overseas capital raising would enhance the nation’s visibility in the global market. He emphasized Vietnam’s strong growth potential, highlighting its appeal to US and global investors.
Nasdaq aspires to be a bridge, supporting the SSC and Vietnamese firms not only in listing and fundraising but also in technology innovation and market surveillance, drawing from its experience with over 130 exchanges worldwide, Bob McCooey said.
In response, Chairwoman Vu Thi Chan Phuong affirmed Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to enhance its legal framework and implement reforms to develop its securities market. Recently, the SSC issued regulations to review initial public offering (IPO) filings IPO filings concurrently with listing applications- a significant step in improving administrative procedures, increasing capital mobilization efficiency, and safeguarding investors’ rights.
The Commission also encourages eligible Vietnamese companies to pursue listings on international markets, especially Nasdaq, and expressed interest in the issuance of Depositary Receipts (DRs) in the US.
Phuong hoped Nasdaq would continue close collaboration, while facilitating opportunities for Vietnamese companies to issue DRs abroad.
