VOV.VN - The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) was launched at a ceremony held on January 12 in Zurich city, with a view to promoting collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth between Vietnamese and Swiss enterprises.
After the introduction of the members, the Executive Board of the SVEF had its first meeting, with a specific focus on its vision and mission, as well as discussing areas in which the two countries can strengthen ties in moving forward.
In his speech, SVEF chairman Philipp Rösler, emphasized that the forum’s goal is to create a platform that not only helps to improve mutual understanding, but also promotes deep and important interactions and a strong innovation partnership between Vietnam and Switzerland.
The forum is therefore not only a gathering place, but also a place to incubate ideas, collaborations, and transformational projects, thereby helping to bring benefits to both nations.
Also at the event, members of the Executive Board shared their views on action plans, registration procedures, forms of calling for sponsorship, financial rules, operating budgets, and strategies aimed at promoting the image of mutual relations.
Rachel Isenschmid, who has spent many years working in the field of asset management and will be in charge of public relations for the Vietnam - Switzerland Economic Forum, shared the idea of organizing a collaborative platform which can promote the strength of Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in Switzerland, as well as the interest of Swiss businesses and organizations in the nation.
Attending the launch ceremony of the Vietnam - Switzerland Economic Forum, Ambassador Phung The Long affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Switzerland highly appreciated the event and hoped it would be involved in effective activities, thereby helping to "unlock" the potential and strength of the two countries' economies.
Ambassador Long emphasized, "As you know, the World Economic Forum in Davos is about to take place soon. This is an international forum where the world's top leaders discuss the future economy. I hope that, with the support and assistance of relevant government agencies, regional and municipal officials, as well as the embassies of the two countries, the Vietnam - Switzerland Economic Forum will organise annual events as a mean of together cultivating success for bilateral economic co-operation.”
In the discussion session that followed, many participants raised questions related to issues such as the talent attraction policies, legal mechanisms for trade activities between the two countries, administrative procedures, and logistics services.
Each question was thoroughly answered by the Board of Directors and members of the Executive Board with the common spirit of aiming to "cultivate success together" for joint relations, not only in the field of economics, but also many other fields in the near future.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on October 25 held a kick-off ceremony marking the implementation of the Swiss-funded US$5 million technical assistance, which aims to nurture financial technologies (fintech) serving the improvement of financial inclusion in Vietnam.
