RoK bank supports green transition for Samsung suppliers in Vietnam

In a statement, KEXIM said it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Parton, a company representing Samsung Electronics suppliers, to strengthen environmental, social and governance (ESG) capabilities across the supply chain and promote mutually beneficial cooperation among participating companies.

Under the MoU, 11 Samsung Electronics suppliers investing and manufacturing in Vietnam will jointly implement a renewable power purchasing model through power purchase agreements (PPAs).

The arrangement is expected to help participating companies gain easier access to renewable electricity at more competitive costs while meeting increasingly stringent sustainability requirements in international markets.

To support the process, KEXIM will cover the costs of specialised energy consultants to help companies develop strategies and implementation plans suited to conditions in Vietnam.

Samsung Electronics will also share experience and practical models the company has applied in the use of renewable energy at its production and business facilities overseas.

Through the transfer of experience, Samsung expects companies within its supply chain to accelerate their green transition and strengthen their competitiveness in international markets.

The initiative is seen as an important step in helping RoK companies in Vietnam advance their carbon reduction goals while strengthening ESG capabilities across Samsung's global supply chain.
