VOV.VN - Tay Ninh province is set to become a major hub for high-tech agriculture in Southeast Asia, following the announcement of a VND10,000 billion investment package from Dutch-based De Heus Group and Vietnam’s Hung Nhon Group.
The information was unveiled at the October 20 reception between Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of De Heus Group (Netherlands) and Hung Nhon Group on the investment plan for a series of 12 high-tech agricultural projects in the period of 2025 - 2030 in the province.
Accordingly, 12 projects are expected to attract a total investment of VND10,000 billion, with the goal of transforming Tay Ninh into a leading high-tech agricultural centre in Southeast Asia. By 2030, these projects are projected to generate approximately US$2 billion in revenue for the De Heus – Hung Nhon joint venture.
At the meeting, Johan Van Den Ban, CEO of De Heus Vietnam and Asia said a key highlight of the investment plan is the construction of Tay Ninh’s first high-tech poultry slaughtering and processing plant.
The facility will have an annual capacity of 52 million poultry heads and 132,000 tonnes of processed products, utilising advanced European production lines and meeting international standards such as Halal, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000. The plant is slated for completion by the end of 2026 and will target export markets including the EU, Middle East, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
Vu Manh Hung, Chairman and CEO of Hung Nhon Group, stated that the project chain developed by De Heus and Hung Nhon not only incorporates advanced livestock technologies but also emphasises the development of clean raw material zones, with strict controls on pesticide residues and mycotoxins in animal feed.
The livestock system will follow a closed, fully automated model, from feeding to waste treatment, ensuring cost efficiency, disease control, and biosafety.
During the meeting, representatives from the two groups proposed a public-private partnership model to develop a modern and sustainable agricultural ecosystem in the province. They also called on local authorities to streamline legal procedures, particularly for the slaughterhouse project in Trang Bang.
In response, Chairman Nguyen Van Ut welcomed the initiative and praised the long-term contributions of De Heus, Hung Nhon and other livestock breeding firms to the province.
“Tay Ninh creates a favourable investment environment to support business success and provincial socio-economic development,” he assured his guests.
He also noted that Tay Ninh’s expanded territory following its administrative merger with Long An provides ideal conditions for industrial-scale agriculture, especially in livestock. The province pledged to provide maximum support to accelerate project implementation and build a globally recognised Tay Ninh agricultural brand.
Vietnam has launched its first research project on combining solar energy with agriculture, aiming to increase farmers' incomes while accelerating the country's energy transition.
