VOV.VN - The Tra Vinh Farm Co. Ltd (Sokfarm), based in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh, officially exported its first shipment of over seven tonnes of organic coconut flower nectar to the US on May 7.
According to CEO of Sokfarm Pham Dinh Ngai, the product is made from freshly tapped coconut nectar, a 100% natural ingredient harvested from Sokfarm’s internationally certified organic coconut groves in Tra Vinh.
Each kilogram of sugar requires more than eight litres of coconut nectar, which is condensed using advanced low-temperature technology (55–60°C) over several hours. This method helps retain the nectar’s natural minerals and nutrients.
The shipment is bound for US partners in the energy bar and nutritional snack industries, where the nectar will be used as a natural sweetener.
Sokfarm currently operates a 20-hectare coconut plantation certified by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the EU, the Japanese Agricultural Standards (JAS), and Canada Organic. The company also partners with 35 farming households in Tieu Can district to source raw coconut nectar.
To date, Sokfarm has exported its products to Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, the US, and Australia.
A delegation from the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, led by Consul General Wei Huaxiang, and 30 Chinese coconut companies made a field trip to raw material zones in Cau Ke district, the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh, on December 20.
A forum on connecting coconut production and consumption took place in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on December 13, offering a venue for relevant parties to discuss ways to fully tap the potential of both domestic and international markets to develop coconut into a billion-USD industry.
