VOV.VN - Vietnam-Laos trade surged 57% to a decade-high US$2.36 billion over the nine-month period of 2025, driven by strong export growth across key sectors, according to Vietnam Customs.
Exports to Laos rose to US$884 million, a 79% increase from the same period last year, while imports stood at US$1.4 billion, up 45%.
The rise in exports was led by chemical products, which became Vietnam’s top export to Laos at about US$351 million after a sharp increase. Other notable export items included machinery and equipment and iron and steel, which also posted strong gains.
On the import side, Vietnam spent roughly US$162 million on rubber from Laos. Coal and fertilizer were among other major import items, while some agricultural categories showed mixed performance.
The surge pushed bilateral trade to its highest level in the past decade and underscores growing economic exchange between the two neighbours, Vietnam Customs said.
