Vietnam remains third-largest seafood supplier to Singapore
VOV.VN - Vietnam continued to be the third-largest seafood supplier to Singapore during the nine-month period of 2025, with import value reaching S$88.6 million, accounting for 10.2% of the city-state’s total seafood imports, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore.
Fish fillets and chilled or frozen fish continued to generate the highest import value among Vietnamese seafood products in Singapore, totaling S$45 million during the period, up 8.1% year on year and representing 30.3% of Vietnam’s seafood exports to the market.
Vietnam also recorded notable growth in two other groups-crustaceans and mollusks, with import values hitting S$20 million and S$10.1 million, up 22.7% and 99.3%, respectively.
With Singapore’s seafood import market maintaining stable scale, Vietnam is expected to sustain its strong share in the fillet and frozen fish category. However, in other segments, especially crustaceans and mollusks, Vietnamese exporters will continue to face competition from suppliers such as China, Japan, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Statistics from Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority and data compiled by the Trade Office show that in recent years, Vietnamese seafood has made remarkable progress in this market.
In 2024, Vietnam surpassed Japan to become Singapore’s fifth-largest seafood supplier. In the first quarter of 2025, the country moved up another rank to fourth place, overtaking China.
With its impressive performance throughout the reviewed period, Vietnam has consolidated its position as the third-largest seafood supplier to Singapore, after Malaysia and Indonesia.
This reflects not only the growing appeal of Vietnamese seafood among Singaporean consumers but also the strengthening reputation of Vietnam’s national brand and product quality in the regional market.
VOV.VN - Trade between Vietnam and Singapore has continued its strong upward trajectory during the first nine months of the year with Vietnam maintaining its position as Singapore’s 10th largest trading partner, according to the Vietnamese Trade Office in Singapore.
