Busy Tet holiday travel continues at Noi Bai Airport
VOV.VN - Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi continued its busy holiday period on January 17 as travelers head home to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam.
According to Noi Bai International Airport, the airport operates 565 flights, carrying 75,000 passengers, including 23,300 foreigners, on January 17, or the 26th day of the last lunar month.
The previous day Noi Bai Airport runs 521 flights carrying 74,600 passengers.
The airport is expected to serve 580 flights a day with approx. 104,000 passengers on board during the peak time in a couple of days.
The airport has also arranged night flights to meet people's increasing demand for travelling at this time of year.
The airport has increased the number of staff and officers, with all checkpoints opening early to accommodate the holiday rush.
During the busiest days, to avoid missing their flights, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport three hours early for international flights and two hours early for domestic flights.
Passengers without check-in baggage are encouraged to make use of online check-in services or check-in kiosks at the airport.
Noi Bai Airport has requested that families don’t go to the airport to see members off in order to avoid overcrowding, especially during the peak hours from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The number of passengers at the domestic terminal increases sharply, although so far all services operate smoothly at Noi Bai Airport.
A bustling scene at the airport is recorded on the afternoon of January 17 ahead of Tet.
Many people flock to the airport as they prepare to return to the hometown for their family reunion and Tet celebrations. Others are busy joining their new-year holiday after a long year of hard work.
There are also extra screening lanes as a means of decreasing waiting time for security check.
Airport officials are keen to ensure passengers have an efficient and safe experience during their travel.
The airport suggests that passengers make use of the airport's authorised taxi, minibus, and bus services to avoid overcharging.
Noi Bai Airport managers say they have checked all equipment and tightened security to ensure a trouble-free Tet holiday.
