Calligraphy street jubilantly gears up for upcoming Tet holiday
VOV.VN - Thousands of visitors have flocked to a calligraphy street in Ho Chi Minh City to purchase calligraphic works, snap photographs, and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year festival known locally as Tet.
The street of calligraphers opens at the Youth Cultural House on Pham Ngoc Thach Street in District 1, becoming a familiar venue for local people to ask for Nom scripts every Tet.
The calligraphy street is certainly an eye-catching site with its vibrant yellow apricot blossoms decorated at dozens of stalls.
Around 30 young calligraphers formerly known as scholar in the past showcase their beautiful writings in both Chinese and Vietnamese.
Buying calligraphic works is believed to bring good luck and prosperity ahead of a new lunar year. Calligraphers don face mask and follow the Health Ministry’s 5K message on COVID-19 prevention measures.
The street offers guests a beautiful background in which to take photos to keep as special memories for Tet this year.
Many women choose to wear an Ao Dai, a traditional long dress, posing for photographs, and enjoying the festive atmosphere ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The site has been thoroughly decorated to feature yellow apricot flowers, becoming an ideal check-in spot for young people to enjoy.
The event is scheduled to last through to February 5, or the fifth day of the first lunar month.
