VOV.VN - The central province of Quang Nam has welcomed the first group of foreign tourists after nearly two years of travel disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Vietnam Airlines flight carrying approximately 30 international visitors landed at Da Nang International Airport on November 17 following a long hiatus due to the pandemic.
Quang Nam receives another group of tourists flying from the Republic of Korea (RoK) on November 18, and is set to welcome a third group on November 25.
The three flights will therefore bring over 300 foreign visitors to Quang Nam from the United States, Canada, and the RoK.
They are the first vaccinated visitors who have booked package tours in Quang Nam.
In the first phase of reopening tourism services, Vietnam only accepts vaccinated holidaymakers who have booked package tours to destinations in Kien Giang, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and Quang Ninh.
The visitors are required to make health declarations before being transferred to designated hotels for self-isolation for seven days.
Vietnam had previously closed its skies to air travel in an effort to combat COVID-19 since late April, 2020.
After seven-day quarantine, the tourists will now join an eight-day-seven-night package tour to discover major destinations in Quang Nam.
Upon arrival, buses take them directly to their designated hotels in the province.
All tourists, along with staff at the airport and travel agency, wear face masks in line with Vietnam’s COVID-19 guidelines.
Vietnam plans to welcome plenty more international visitors moving into 2022 as it aims to recover the tourism sector which has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
