Hanoi’s Old Quarter hotels ready to welcome back foreign tourists
VOV.VN - While a number of hotels located in the Old Quarter of Hanoi remain closed, others are hurriedly making final preparations to receive foreign visitors again as soon as Vietnam resumes international tourism from March 15.
The COVID-19 pandemic has not only impacted the health of local people, but also brought most of business activities to a grinding halt. A large number of hotels in Hanoi’s Old Quarter have since ceased operation.
Though life has returned to normal, many hotels on Hang Bong, Hang Dao, Bat Su, and Ma May streets remain closed, and some are even unable to reopen or receive visitors again.
The bustling streets in the capital are now quiet, with notices placed in front of buildings reading the premises are for rent.
The pavements in front of some hotels which have ceased operation are used for food outlets or parking areas.
Several hotels offer discounts in an attempt to lure domestic tourists as a way of keeping the business afloat in hard times.
Meanwhile, Medallin Hotel on Ma May street which is designed to mainly receive foreign guests is refurbishing its facilities for reopening after two years of closure.
Other hotels in the city centre are now also ready to welcome back international tourists. The full reopening of tourism activities is expected to bring a vibrant atmosphere back to the hospitality industry in the capital.
