Bay Nui Ox Race is a traditional part of the Sene Dolta Festival held by local Khmer people in An Giang province as they pay tribute to their ancestors and pray for a good life. The annual festival has returned this year after a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2016 the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognised the Bay Nui Ox Race as part of the country’s national intangible cultural heritage.
This year’s ox race is held in Tri Ton district, featuring the participation of 25 pairs of oxen from eight communes.

The race is considered a distinctive tourism product of An Giang province.
Spectators endure the scorching sun from around 7 a.m. until the end of the race at around 11 a.m.
Many spectators gather close to the edge of the track as they enthusiastically catch every dramatic moment as the oxen sprint towards the finish line.

A pair of oxen owned by Nguyen Thanh Toan of Luong Phi commune in Tri Ton district comes first in the competition.
The winners will vie for the 27th An Giang Television Cup due to take place on September 24 in Tinh Bien district.
