Vietnam, China complete joint patrol in Gulf of Tonkin
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) and the China Coast Guard (CCG) have completed a joint patrol in the waters adjacent to the demarcation line in the Gulf of Tonkin from November 3 to 5.
This is the fifth time such a joint patrol has been held between the Coast Guard forces of the two countries after the Fisheries Cooperation Agreement in the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin between Vietnam and China expired on June 30, 2020.
The joint patrol spans over 13 points with a distance of 255.5 nautical miles, from the Southeastern part of the Tran island to the northeastern part of the Con Co island on the demarcation line of the Gulf of Tonkin.
The Coast Guard forces of the two countries hold telephone talks, conduct inspection and supervision of fishing boats in the waters adjacent to the demarcation line, practise search and rescue plans at sea, and encourage fishermen to obey the law when operating at sea.
The Vietnam Coast Guard present gifts and national flags to fisherman, encouraging them to set sail, contributing to protecting national sovereignty at sea.
