VOV.VN - Milos Vystrcil, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on November 18, beginning an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the National Assembly.
The Czech leader and his entourage were welcomed at the airport by Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and other officials of Ho Chi Minh City.
During his stay from November 18 to 22, Senate President Milos Vystrcil is scheduled to hold talks with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and meet with other senior Vietnamese leaders, including Party General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong.
Vietnam and the Czech Republic established diplomatic ties on February 2, 1950, and the two countries have since maintained the traditional friendship and fine relationship.
The Czech Republic is Vietnam’s leading trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe. In turn, Vietnam is the Czech Republic’s most partner in ASEAN. Two-way trade turnover between the two countries hit US$1.6 billion in the first nine months of 2025.
The Czech Republic is also the first EU member state to ratify the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Vietnam investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).
The two countries have strengthened parliamentary cooperation through the exchange of delegations and coordination at inter-parliamentary forums.
There are approximately 100,000 Vietnamese nationals living, studying and working in the Czech Republic, serving as a friendship bridge between the two countries.
Senate President Vystrcil’s official visit to Vietnam holds significant importance, reaffirming Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism, diversification, and proactive, effective international integration. The visit highlights parliamentary cooperation as a key pillar in bilateral relations and underscores the determination of both countries to strengthen ties, promote collaboration, and elevate Vietnam–Czech relations to new heights.
