VOV.VN - Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc on September 23 met with Liu Ning, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and chairman of the Standing Committee of the region's People's Congress.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 21st China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and the 21st China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning city, Guangxi.
At the meeting, Phoc affirmed that Vietnam consistently values its friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic partnership with China.
Vietnam supports the traditional ties between its localities and Guangxi, said Phoc, believing that Guangxi will successfully host the 21st CAEXPO, contributing to the practical cooperation between ASEAN and China.
He suggested that Guangxi and Vietnamese localities actively implement common perceptions reached by senior leaders of both countries, as well as the outcomes from the recent visit of the Guangxi Secretary to Vietnam. He emphasized the importance of strengthening friendly exchanges between the Party committees, local governments, and mass organizations of both sides, while calling for continued effectiveness of the Spring Meeting and the Joint Working Committee mechanism between Guangxi and the Vietnamese provinces of Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Lang Sơn, and Quang Ninh.
The Deputy PM urged for enhanced practical cooperation in various fields to promote faster, stronger, higher, and more sustainable development of the partnership between the two sides.
He outlined several key areas of cooperation, including promoting rail, road, sea and air transport connectivity; and speeding up the construction of pilot smart border gates to facilitate trade between the two countries and the broader region. He welcomed capable enterprises from Guangxi to expand high-quality investments in Vietnam, as well as enhancing the import of goods in which Vietnam has advantages, particularly agricultural and aquatic products and fruits.
He proposed that both sides continue to coordinate closely in border management according to the three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border, and promptly address any arising issues. Additionally, he called for strengthened cooperation in managing immigration and combating cross-border crime, as well as advancing the upgrade and establishment of border gates and open crossings mutually agreed upon.
Liu, for his part, stressed the importance of strengthening friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese localities and ministries. He extended his sincere sympathy to the Vietnamese people hit by typhoon Yagi and subsequent floods, announcing that Guangxi will provide support for some Vietnamese localities to recover from the natural disasters.
The Party organisation, authorities, and people of Guangxi will effectively realise the common high-level perceptions and joint statements from recent reciprocal visits by leaders of the two countries, he said, adding that Guangxi will continue stepping up friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese ministries and localities, actively contributing to advancing the China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
