VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on March 18 visited the London Stock Exchange and held a working session with Julia Holgate, CEO of the London Stock Exchange.
Meeting with Holgate, Binh briefed the CEO on Vietnam’s stock market operations, saying despite being in its infancy the Vietnamese stock market has played an active role in mobilizing capital for the economy. He expressed a desire for the London Stock Exchange’s continued support in upgrading Vietnam’s stock market classification, helping it to develop, attract more investors, and enhance market liquidity and transparency.
For her part, Holgate maintained that cooperation between the Vietnamese and UK stock markets has been highly successful, yielding positive results. She affirmed that the London Stock Exchange is willing to support Vietnam in upgrading its stock market to emerging market status, and at the same time assist Vietnamese enterprises in listing on the London Stock Exchange.
During the meeting, representatives of the London Stock Exchange also discussed ways of expanding cooperation, encouraging potential enterprises to invest in Vietnam, and applying advanced technology to develop the stock market.
They also shared their expertise and capabilities in building and developing an international financial centre in Vietnam to meet the country’s major strategic objectives.
