
VOV.VN - France wishes to increase cooperation with Vietnam, especially cooperation between the two countries’ enterprises, said President Emmanuel Macron during a press briefing with Party General Secretary and President To Lam of Vietnam in Paris on October 7.
The government of France is ready to welcome Vietnamese businesses to invest in France and to help Vietnam effectively implement its projects, he told To Lam at the press briefing held ahead of their talks.
Besides economic cooperation, France places great importance on collaboration in education, health care, and research in teaching and training, as well as partnerships related to the preservation, development, and enhancement of cultural heritage and values, he added.
Macron appreciated Vietnam’s net zero commitments and its efforts in implementing climate change response policies. He also welcomed To Lam’s visit, which he said would contribute to enhancing relations between France and ASEAN.
ASEAN holds an important position regarding stability and peace in the region, and France particularly values its relationship with ASEAN, stated Macron.
To Lam for his part congratulated France on successfully hosting major international events, including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the 19th Francophonie Summit. As an active and responsible member, he said Vietnam supports the contents of the joint statement of the summit, which emphasizes values of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
He emphasized that after more than half a century of officially establishing diplomatic relations and a decade of establishing a strategic partnership, the relationship between Vietnam and France has made significant progress in all fields.
France that plays a significant role in the Francophone community and globally always holds an important position in Vietnam’s foreign policy, said To Lam, adding that in light of the extensive developments in Vietnam-France relations, as well as the current international and regional context, it is more necessary than ever to elevate the Vietnam-France relationship to new heights.
The Vietnamese leader hoped that the two sides would specifically discuss strategic directions and solutions during their talks to elevate Vietnam-France relations to a new level, including deepening political cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally in response to international challenges.
Vietnam is ready to work closely with France to build a new era for bilateral relations, and to do this the two sides would increase high-level visit exchanges and improve the effectiveness and expand bilateral cooperation mechanisms, he said.
He expressed his belief that bilateral relations would further develop on the back of their strong determination, enhanced political trust and a community of more than 300,000 Vietnamese expatriates in France.
Immediately after the press conference, General Secretary and President To Lam and French President Emmanuel Macron witnessed the signing of two cooperation documents between Vietnam and France in the fields of education and supply and repairs of aircraft.
