The royal delegation was welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport by Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong, representatives from the President Office, and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vietnam and Bhutan have enjoyed friendly and cooperative ties since the establishment of their diplomatic relations on January 19, 2012. High-level leaders of both countries often exchange messages on significant occasions. The two countries hold great potential for tourism cooperation, especially Buddhist and spiritual tourism. Vietjet has operated direct flights to Bhutan for Vietnamese travelers.

Bhutan, known as the “Land of Happiness,” attracts increasing numbers of Vietnamese tourists with its pristine nature and meditation experiences. Both countries are also looking to enhance cooperation in religion, particularly Buddhism, as well as education and human resource exchanges. Bhutan values collaboration with Vietnam in academic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges at regional and international forums.

Within multilateral frameworks, Vietnam and Bhutan participate together in forums such as the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the United Nations, sharing views on sustainable development, climate adaptation, and South-South cooperation. The two countries also coordinate closely at various multilateral platforms.
