
VOV.VN - President of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power Esteban Lazo Hernandez and Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai co-chaired the first session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in Havana on September 24.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and further strengthening the special solidarity, friendship, and traditional cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, as well as the important role of parliamentary cooperation in promoting their special relationship.
They examined reports from representatives of the two parliaments and the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee on bilateral cooperation, as well as solutions and amendments to policies and laws to address challenges and enhance the effectiveness of cooperation, especially in economics, finance, trade, and investment.
Both host and guest exchanged opinions and shared experiences in perfecting legislation to foster bilateral cooperation in various fields, including economics, finance, investment, energy, science - technology, and health, tailored to the conditions and circumstances of each country. They also discussed the results and proposed measures to improve the implementation of the signed cooperation agreements.
The two sides emphasized the need to expand inter-parliamentary relations, enhance close coordination both bilaterally and internationally, strengthen the capacity for coordination, promotion, and regular monitoring of activities, and effectively implement the signed cooperation documents.
The two leaders highlighted the results of cooperation between Cuba and Vietnam in recent times, and appreciated issues tabled for discussion at the first session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai conveyed the invitation from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for Esteban Lazo Hernandez to lead the Cuban delegation to the second session of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee to be held in Vietnam.
