VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea pledged to enhance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the August 6 phone conversation between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and RoK Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun.
Son congratulated Cho on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, expressing confidence that the RoK Minister would make important contributions to enhancing the country’s international standing and further deepening the Vietnam–RoK relations.
Cho, for his part, expressed his pleasure at having his first exchange with Son and affirmed his commitment to continued close cooperation with Vietnam. He emphasised his intention to promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the RoK and Vietnam across all fields.
During the phone talk, the two sides agreed to continue strengthening political trust through visit exchanges, including the effective organisation of upcoming high-level visits. They also committed to deepening cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, and investment; encouraging Korean enterprises to invest in Vietnam; and facilitating mutual market access for businesses from both countries.
In addition, both sides agreed to boost cooperation in security and defence, science and technology, and to work closely and support each other at international forums, including the ASEAN–RoK and Mekong–RoK mechanisms.
The two ministers also affirmed their close coordination to ensure the successful organisation of the APEC Summit 2025 in the RoK and the Mekong–RoK Summit at the end of 2025.
