VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea will continue to build up political trust through high-level contacts and meetings to further promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Davos, Switzerland, on January 16 (local time) between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and RoK Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. The two PMs were in Davos for the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum 2024.
Han affirmed that the RoK considers Vietnam a very close friend and the relationship between the two countries is a special one that is increasingly connected.
Chinh for his part proposed that the RoK facilitate market access for major Vietnamese products; encourage Korean businesses to expand investment in Vietnam; build more Research and Development (R&D) centers; and assist the Southeast Asian nation to develop the entertainment, culture and fashion industries.
The two PMs agreed to further foster practical, effective and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries’ businesses and localities, especially in economy, trade and investment.
They said cultural exchanged and people-to-people exchanges serve as a solid foundation for the two countries to make their relations stronger and expand cooperation in many other fields.
The two leaders also concurred that both Vietnam and the RoK would continue to coordinate closely and support each other at regional and international forums.
In the face of escalating tensions in regions worldwide, they vowed to continue to respect the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, including peacefully resolving all disputes.
