VOV.VN - Vietnam and Singapore will soon sign an Action Plan to implement the 2025 Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, providing a five-year roadmap for comprehensive cooperation.
The agreement was reached by Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and his Singaporean counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan during a meeting on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 26.
Both diplomats highlighted significant progress in bilateral ties following the upgrade to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025 during Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam’s working trip to Singapore. They welcomed the milestone as opening new opportunities to deepen and elevate Vietnam–Singapore cooperation.
On economic cooperation, the two sides agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance existing bilateral mechanisms, and establish new initiatives, with a focus on Green and Digital Economy partnerships.
They also agreed to upgrade the Vietnam – Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) into smart and sustainable industrial parks, while collaborating on high-quality human resource development and smart city projects.
They also reaffirmed close coordination in political and security matters, including a shared stance on the East Sea, aiming to fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties (DOC) and achieve an effective Code of Conduct (COC) in accordance with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Minister Trung expressed gratitude to Singapore for its emergency support of essential supplies to northern Vietnam following recent storms.
