VOV.VN - The National Assembly of Vietnam will consider exempting visas for Luxembourg citizens in its coming session in Hanoi, chief legislator Vuong Dinh Hue told visiting Prime Minister Xavier Bettel in Hanoi on May 4.
Hue welcomed the results of earlier talks between the two PMs, noting there is ample room for the two countries to increase bilateral cooperation, including in economy, trade and investment.
He also welcomed 25 leading businesses of Luxembourg that are accompanying Bettel to Vietnam this time to explore cooperation opportunities in the country.
Vietnam expects more Luxembourg presence here in the country, he told his guest, adding the two sides should cooperate in maintaining and completing the new supply chain amid complicated and unpredictable world situations.
He proposed that the two sides increase exchanges and share legislative experience in the field of finance and banking, and promote the development of high value-added services related to banking, finance, securities, and insurance.
Bettel for his part briefed his host on the results of his earlier talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, during which he announced two Luxembourg-funded projects worth EUR7 million to support Vietnam in the field of environmental protection and climate change adaptation. The two sides also signed a document on the establishment of a strategic partnership on green finance.
Digital transformation is a priority area of the Luxembourg Government, so Luxembourg is ready to exchange information in this field with Vietnam, Bettel said.
He also informed that 25 leading Luxembourg businesses will participate in a join economic forum on May 5 to sound out business opportunities.
The Vietnamese legislator took this occasion to expressed his wish that the two sides would promote parliamentary diplomacy. He conveyed his invitation to the President of the Luxembourg Parliament to visit Vietnam.
He also said he expects to receive a delegation of young parliamentarians of Luxembourg to the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians that the National Assembly of Vietnam will host this September.
