Vietnam desires to work closely with new RoK government
VOV.VN - Vietnam hopes to work closely with the new government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to develop relations across all fields, bringing practical benefits to the peoples of both countries, while contributing to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world at large.

Party General Secretary To Lam was speaking during his reception in Hanoi on June 5 for the RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Choi Young-sam.
He again congratulated Lee Jae-myung on his victory in the recent presidential election and hoped the RoK would continue to thrive and achieve even greater successes, thus further enhancing its international standing in the years ahead.
He highly appreciated the achievements in Vietnam – RoK relations over more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992, recalling the remarkable progress and important milestones, especially the upgrade of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022.
The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam and the RoK have become top partners, with growing political trust, strong economic cooperation, rapid tourism growth, and deepening scientific and technological collaboration.
Lam proposed enhancing substantive cooperation in defence and security, as well as effectively implementing existing cooperation mechanisms. He also urged the promotion of the Action Plan to achieve a bilateral trade target of US$150 billion by 2030 with a more balanced approach. He encouraged Korean businesses to expand investment in Vietnam, alongside technology transfer, especially core technologies.

Vietnam seeks Korean support in training high-quality human resources in areas such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence, while strengthening cooperation in science and technology, energy, culture, tourism, citizen protection, and local collaboration, he said.
The leader expected that both countries would expand cooperation and support each other at regional and international forums, notably in successfully organising the APEC Summits in the RoK in November 2025 and in Vietnam in 2027.
Choi, for his part, affirmed that the new RoK government would continue to regard Vietnam as a key partner in its regional foreign policy, and it hopes to further promote economic cooperation, especially in sectors where the RoK has strengths and Vietnam has demands.
The ambassador also praised Vietnam’s recent policies in support of businesses, seeing them as a driving force for major Korean firms to continue expanding investments in the country. Amid complex geopolitical fluctuations, the Ambassador said, the RoK wishes to closely cooperate with Vietnam to further develop the comprehensive strategic partnership across politics, economy, education and science-technology in the near future.
