VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told US Vice President Kamala Harris on September 6 that Hanoi is looking forwards to receiving US President Joe Biden on a State visit this weekend.
Meeting Harris on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings in Jakarta, Indonesia, Chinh congratulated the US on its impressive gains in weathering the COVID-19 crisis and recording steady socio-economic development results in recent times.
The PM highly appreciated the US VP contributing to the two countries’ relations, especially providing the Vietnamese people with huge amounts of COVID-19 vaccines during the height of the pandemic.
He said he expects to meet her again in the near future to concretize high-level agreements as a means of further deepening the comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
VP Harris for her part emphasized the significance of the State visit to Vietnam by President Joe Biden and believed that the visit would open a new development chapter in bilateral relations.
President Biden is scheduled to pay a State visit to Vietnam on September 10-11 at the invitation of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
