VOV.VN - Vietnam has expressed regret that the US Department of State’s 2024 Human Rights Report, released on August 12, continues to offer what it considers an unobjective assessment of the situation in the country, according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.
This report fails to reflect Vietnam’s achievements and progress in protecting human rights, spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ regular press briefing on August 14.
It also continues to present unobjective assessments based on inaccurate and unverified information about the actual situation in Vietnam, she added.
The spokesperson affirmed that protecting and promoting human rights is Vietnam’s consistent policy, in which people are regarded as the centre and driving force of the country’s renewal and development process.
The Communist Party and the State of Vietnam have always strived to improve living standards, ensure citizens’ rights and entitlements, and leave no one behind. Fundamental rights and freedoms are enshrined in the Constitution, safeguarded and promoted through the legal system, and implemented in practice.
Vietnam is always willing to engage in candid exchanges with the United States on existing differences in a constructive spirit, with a view to enhancing mutual understanding and contributing to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development between the two countries, stressed the spokesperson.
