Vietnam highly values Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long was speaking at a formal reception in Hanoi on June 9 celebrating Russia’s Independence Day (June 12).
He noted that 2025 marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations, marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He held that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia have continued to flourish across various fields over the years. Bilateral cooperation in economy-trade, energy and oil and gas, education and training, science and technology, as well as defence and security, has been actively strengthened.
Both sides welcomed the positive outcomes of Party General Secretary To Lam’s recent official visit to Russia, calling it a historic milestone that demonstrates the strong political will of the two countries’ top leaders and serves as a vital lever to elevate bilateral relations to new heights in this new era of cooperation.
The Deputy PM expressed firm belief that the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia would continue to thrive, for the mutual prosperity of the two peoples and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world at large.

Taking the floor, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko highlighted the ongoing expansion of cooperation between the two countries in key areas such as oil and gas, industrial and agricultural production, and transportation. He noted that the planned establishment of a Nuclear Science and Technology Centre in Vietnam is steadily progressing. In addition, significant support is being provided to the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Centre, including the transfer of a state-of-the-art mobile laboratory and the multifunctional research vessel Professor Gagarinsky for the Centre’s use and management.
Academic exchanges between universities in both counteies are also being actively strengthened.
The Ambassador underscored the vast potential for further deepening bilateral ties, emphasising the shared commitment to fostering prosperity and well-being for the peoples of Russia and Vietnam.
