VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Bui Le Thai recently held a working meeting with Stifter Adam, deputy state secretary for the Development of Eastern Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, in Budapest.
The two sides discussed Vietnam – Hungary relations and measures to enhance the ties in the near future. They also agreed to coordinate activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year (February 3, 1950 - 2025).
During the meeting, Thai emphasized that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people highly value the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Hungary. He noted that the bilateral relationship is currently at a positive stage, with a high level of political trust.
He expressed Vietnam’s commitment to deepening the comprehensive partnership with Hungary to ensure stronger, more practical, and effective development across all fields in the coming years.
The Ambassador proposed that the two sides work together to organize the 10th session of the Vietnam-Hungary Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation in Hanoi, as well as activities to promote trade, investment, cultural exchange, and tourism and education cooperation.
On this occasion, he thanked Hungary for its consistent support and favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study, and work stably in the country. He also suggested that the Hungarian government recognize the Vietnamese community as the 14th ethnic minority in the country to facilitate their full integration into the local society.
Deputy State Secretary Stifter emphasized Hungary’s strong regard for its relationship with Vietnam, and said the high level of political trust between the two countries serves as a solid foundation for deepening their comprehensive partnership in various fields.
He pledged to closely cooperate with the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary to successfully organize meaningful events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Stifter acknowledged the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community to Hungary, and affirmed Hungary’s support, within the legal framework, for recognizing the Vietnamese community as an ethnic minority.
Both sides agreed on measures to further enhance relations through visit exchanges and cooperation mechanisms. They also vowed foster business exchanges and people-to-people interactions, as well as collaborating closely at multilateral forums, particularly within the United Nations.
