
VOV.VN - The Japanese Government has decided to bestow its Order of the Rising Sun on Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh to recognise his contributions to strengthening cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.
According to the Japanese Embassy in Hanoi, Gen. Vinh will be honoured with the Order, third class, for his significant contribution to promoting the Vietnam-Japan cooperation in the fields of security and national defence.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh is former Deputy Minister of National Defence in charge of diplomacy, intelligence, and peacekeeping.
He was a member of the Communist party of Vietnam Central Committee for the 11th and 12 tenures, and standing member of the Central Military Commission of the Communist party of Vietnam.
He held the position of General Director of General Department II under the Ministry of National Defense, leading military intelligence from 2002 to 2009.
Gen. Vinh was Deputy Minister of National Defense from 2011 to June 2021.
